History
Version
4.0 was the first release version of the X-Link System.
However, X-Link has been distributed in many forms since
1993. X-Link serves as the interface between Practice
Management Systems and Electronic Patient Records Systems,
Electronic Claims and Remittance Systems, Hospital Systems,
HMO Information Systems, Laboratory Systems and Other
Systems which require the ability to access, add and change
demographic, transactional, appointment and other
information within Practice Management System databases.
X-Link has become the standard link software for Practice
Management System users around the world.
Easy Business
Software's first linking system was released in 1993. It
linked CYMA MPM II (a private labeled Lytec product) and
Petra 2. It was called MPM2Petra. This was a batch system
and initially provided demographic transfers from MPM to
Petra. Later a batch billing transfer function was added to
move billing data from Petra to MPM. The second major
release of a linking system was begun during 1995. It was
named PetraTec and provided a real time integration of Lytec
Pro (the successor of MPM) from within Petra 3 (the
successor of Petra 2). Before the completion of the PetraTec,
Lytec Systems discontinued the Lytec Pro version of Lytec
Medical. PetraTec was then reengineered to work with the
Btrieve version of Lytec Medical.
The third
major release of our linking systems was in early 1998 with
the release of LyLink. It was a completely redesigned system
that was developed with Active-X technology. This new
technology provides the ability to plug-in the Electronic
Patient Records System of your choice into the LyLink base
system. LyLink was originally released for Lytec Medical
6.5. Simultaneously with the release of Lytec 98, LyLink 98
was released. The LyLink systems provided real time
synchronization of patient demographics between Lytec and
over 20 Electronic Patient Records systems. Patient
demographics could move both to and from the Electronic
Patient Records System and Lytec Medical. Additionally,
billing information from the Electronic Patient Records
System would be inserted into Lytec Medical billing files in
real time and automatically, all without operator
intervention. LyLink truly created a seamless integration
between Lytec Medical and Electronic Patient Records
Systems.
X-Link is the
fourth in the major releases of our linking products since
1993. With this version again comes a major rewrite of the
internal structure and user interface of the X-Link System.
It provides for several new advantages that mainly enhance
Easy Business Software's ability to distribute, support,
maintain and enhance the X-Link Product Line. First and
foremost is the new software architecture that has combined
all X-Link models into one standard common base program with
separate Active-X components for each Practice Management
System and each Electronic Patient Records System. This has
allowed our programming staff to easily add additional
linking capabilities for X-Link while allowing easy
maintenance of the software.
X-Link
performs all of the same data transfer functions as LyLink.
However, it now allows linking to more than just Lytec
Medical. Our new design allows a limitless number of
Practice Management Systems linking possibilities and well
as the already limitless number of Electronic Patient
Records Systems that LyLink already provided. Also, Internet
ASP support has been added and X-Link was installed on the
first ISP's computers only two weeks after initial release.
And, as in the past, many support questions that arose from
the registration, setup and use of LyLink have been
addressed and significantly reengineered to greatly reduce
these support situations. Context sensitive help has been
improved and a complete user's guide has been added to the
help system.
Since the
original release of X-Link, several major improvements have
been added. The first was the addition of an online update
system. If X-Link is installed on a computer with internet
access, this function can easily be performed by the press
of a button. Upon pressing the Update Button, X-Link will
contact our Internet Update Server and compare the versions
of all components of your X-Link system with the latest
available. If any part of your X-Link system is out of date,
it will be automatically download, installed and registered.
X-Link has
also been expanded to provide new styles of links required
by many diverse systems. Appointment schedules are now
transferred to systems which require that information. New
types linking have also been incorporated like request based
information exchange. Our goal is to provide the state of
the art linking in all forms that your practice requires to
integrate all of your software systems into one working
homogeneous practice wide solution.
